“…but by My Spirit.”
Have you ever felt inadequate?
Have you ever been placed in a position to do something that is beyond your abilities?
I have more times than I care to remember. The first few times I found myself in a situation like this, I simply gave myself a pep talk. It went something like this, “you can do this. These people believe in you, now believe in yourself!”
I’d then step out unsure but moving forward and guess what—I fell short, I really fell short.
Zerubbabel found himself in a situation where he knew he didn’t have what it took. He didn’t panic, he didn’t have a pep talk, but he did hear from God. God’s advice was clear. God basically said, “your assessment of the facts are correct you can’t do it.” Then God told him what he needed to do. “So he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.” (Zechariah 4:6)
The next time you are asked to do something, and you feel incapable, just remember, the Spirit of God wants to work through you to do what you could never do by yourself! Maybe that’s what Paul meant when he said, “ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)
Don’t be afraid, be dependent on the Spirit.
Get ready to soar because the Holy Spirit weekend begins in two more days. Saturday, September 22nd at 7 P.M.
