Spinach
I’m not sure when it happened but when it happened I was shocked!
I couldn’t believe it. I certainly couldn’t explain it. I went from hating spinach to loving spinach.
To this day I could eat Popeye’s canned spinach seven days a week.
Ø Popeye’s canned spinach did not change.
Ø The way I heat the spinach hasn’t changed.
Ø The way I plate my spinach hasn’t changed.
Then what changed--you may ask? My taste!
Sometimes we get a bland taste for the Word of God. It seems lifeless, and it no longer appeals to our spiritual appetite.
When this happens…what should we do? David challenged us to, “Taste and see that the LORD is good.” (Psalms 34:9)
You simply keep eating because your spiritual appetite can change. The Lord has the ability to stimulate your hunger and desire for His Word so that you will say, “How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” (Psalms 119:103)
Keep feasting on the Word of God and allow your spiritual appetite for his Word to change. Soon, you’ll be saying the same thing that I said about spinach. “I could feast on His Word seven days a week.”
